E por fin chegou o día
Agora, que debemos quedarnos na casa, máis ca nunca é un momento no que podemos usar o poder da lectura para combatir o illamento, estreitar os vínculos entre as persoas, expandir os nosos horizontes e á vez estimular as nosas mentes e a nosa creatividade.
Agora e sempre ai que celebrar a importancia da lectura, fomentar o crecemento dos nenos como lectores e promover o amor pola literatura.
Coa lectura podes abrirte aos demais a pesar da distancia, viaxar coa imaxinación e nunca sentirte só.
Pero....Por que este día e non outro?
Esta data simbólica da literatura universal coincide coa desaparición dos escritores William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes e Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
A UNESCO, que é a Organización das Nacións Unidas para a Educación, a Ciencia e a Cultura, rinde homenaxe este día aos libros e aos autores apoiando a creatividade, a diversidade e a igualdade de acceso ao coñecemento.
Anímoche a que investigues sobre estes importantes escritores e tamén sobre a UNESCO e a súa labor.

In the British/American culture, it´s very much seen that children dress up for school as their favourite character from a book to celebrate World Book Day. I would like how they celebrate this day and maybe one day we can do something similar.
Do you like the idea? I think this is a great idea to celebrate World book day next year at school, isn't it?
My proposal for today at home is the following:
- Choose a book and with things that you have at home, try to dress up as your favourite character. Imagine you are inside the story.
- Read the book as much as you can. Enjoy reading!
- Complete the book review worksheet below (if your book is in Spanish, try to find the original name on the first few pages of the book.
Well done! To finish, I just want you to take time reading in English every day. If you don't have story books in English, don't be worried about it. I am going to remind you of a web page that has ebooks for you to listen to and read (there are many that are free). I recommend them to you because you can choose from several books, you can listen to them and hear the correct pronunciation and also practice your reading skills.
